This is the car that, as the designer describes, is the car and the embodiment of fun that rightfully belongs to the “computer generation.” Am I a part of that generation? I hope so. Computers seem pretty cool to me. This Audi is called the “Avatar” and it’s a futuristic fantasy. Can you see the wheels? They’re there! I don’t know how they turn, but they’re there!

Chair on wheels, wheelchair that is. The iTilta’s designed by Gu JiaWei to further push the wheelchair into the regular lifestyle of those who have to use it. It is the goal, isn’t it, after all, to make these tools (wheelchairs, artificial arms, legs) as much a part of the body as the limbs that are naturally attached? I think so!

Analog to the rescue!

You been Yanko-readin’ long? If ye have, you know that we don’t get very many farm-machinery-related projects just poppin up on the regular here around the Yanko offices. But lo! Here one doth roll! It’s a future tractor. Made to not just look futuristic but to ACT like it too, this lovely bit of corn harvesting metal and wheels is a progressive little number!

This is the Maserati Boomerang, a concept car from 1971. I don’t believe that current concept cars will look that fresh in 40 years. The Boomerang is a beast, just look at the wheels.

Cool dude sitting behind the wheels of a vintage car, does your sound system match the classic interiors? Nope? Oh don’t get hung up, take in the Tivoli AutoSound. A player that’s as retro looking as your vintage! But don’t be fooled by looks alone, coz it’s as modern beneath the skin. Features include MP3 player hook-up, FM radio and a Blu-ray player with a prominent touchscreen channel selector. Move the selector to the left to access disc slot. It has one more cool feature….

Electricity is in the air. Literally. This vehicle, the futuristic “Bio Top” utilizes “wireless electricity” technology. The front of this vehicle has 2 wheels, the back has one, and this one is a sphere which charges the electric car battery as it goes, then transmitting the energy from the battery to the car through that wireless electricity. Also you’ve gotta have a listen about the steering wheel!

M.S.Q.T.O. is a quad bike inspired by the irreverent blood sucking mosquito. The rider sits higher than other all-terrain vehicles for a better vantage point to pick out your next prey. The entire package is very compact with an aggressive stance. Even the placement of the legs and wheels invoke an image that gets me to swatting.

Dyson. It’s the wackiest vacuum. You know it is. It’s the off-orange/yellow floor etc cleaner with the spherical wheel. The object designer Adam Alpine is trying to accomplish is “to push a brand [Dyson] beyond its product genre maintaining the brands design principles.” To maintain the principles of a vacuum brand in a toy vehicle. What a lovely idea for a project!

That’s what’s going on with this future car, future AMERICAN car I should say, by designer Colin Pan; long, wide, and fat. Aiming to emphasize the richness of the American automotive design legacy, the “Nebula” is bigtime. Enlarged wheels to reduce vibration and improve fuel efficiency, trunk in the front, and LCD viewscreens along the interior. Works like a starship, runs smooth like one too.
