The 2-1/2 story semi-detached house adopts a highly introverted stance, seeking to dissociate with its adjoining neighbor and the street. Formally, we adopted the simplest, archetypical form and keep the facade minimal, while maximizing the interior space.

The front end of the double-pitched roof is constructed to turn out from the wall to open out for the roof terrace and pool. The main fenestration looks to the side while other parts of the house are ventilated and lit indirectly through additional openings.

People I’ve Never Met…

The nice fellas at NoBrow have sent me a copy of one of their latest releases People I’ve Never Met & Conversations I’ve Never Had, a 36 page hard back monograph of Nick White’s most recent collection of works. It also represents the first in a brand new series called Monobrow.

To coincide with this NoBrow have set up an open invitation illustration project inspired by the subject ‘People I’ve Never Met & Conversations I’ve Never Had’. You can submit one image of a person you’ve never met, and one other image illustrating a conversation you’ve never had. This can be a drawing, photograph, collage, etching, or whatever medium you want. A selection of the submissions will then be compiled and made into a book published by Nobrow Press!

Do You Hang Dry? Save Those Water Droplets

Here’s a solution to a problem I didn’t even know existed. It’s not uncommon to see lines of clothes strung up over balconies even in the most densely populated areas. It presents a problem for anyone who lives on the lower levels because their balcony becomes an instant pool from all the water dripping from clothes hung above. The D-CATCHER not only keeps garments stretched for even drying, but also collects all the water inside a tube for reclamation.

I like the idea but the thought of having every single garment equipped with a D-CATCHER sounds expensive. As someone who already complains when doing automated laundry, the D-CATCHER would drive my nerves up the wall. Too much work just to collect water. Wouldn’t it be easier to just put buckets underneath all your drying clothes?

The white interior acts like a blank canvas to make the artwork really appealing. You feel as if you’re inside a resort more so than a home, and the outside “pergola” make “al fresco” dining an amazing experience. Wait until you see the pool.

Banksy vs. Bristol Museum

Mannen i gata elsker det, kunstnerne og taggerne hater det, mens Banksy jobber som aldri før og ler hele veien til banken.

Sjelden har så mange folk hatt så mange forskjellige meninger om en samtidskunstner/graffitimaler. Personlig synes jeg kunst og kulturinteresserte har alt for lett for å avfeie, samtidig som at de som i utgangspunktet er uinteresserte er for lite kritiske. Uansett hvilken polarisert mening du måtte ha om Banksy er det interessant når han for første gang går inn i en institusjon og presenterer sin mest omfattende utstilling noen sinne. Hat på det eller gi det en sjanse, jeg mener det er to skritt i riktig retning.

No, no… ”color of water” does not refer to the Oprah-esque tale of growing up in an interracial family. Aesthetically these are really great but they can’t help but remind you about the sketchiness of the water on the other side of the pool. I never made it out to the floating pool they had here in Brooklyn (which has since moved to the Bronx) .

I think the Ganges would be the best place for one of these…
