Doing away with the traditional norms of a bulky scanner is the svelte scanU. This pocket-sized gadget is inherently made up of three segments: the screen, the power unit and the storage. The display screen comprises of a three-layer roll out scanning bed, where the upper and bottom layers are OLED screens (providing illumination) and the central layer features capacitive and photo sensors that capture the scanned data.

Router is the most mundane of your computer peripheral and the poor gadget hardly ever gets noticed. Most of the time it is callously placed on top of the CPU or stacked behind the monitor. In this modern wireless age, when we have so many creative heads bringing us upbeat tech, it’s a pleasure to see someone turn the eyesore to an object `d art. The Occipiter incorporates some amazing finishing like brushed aluminum with inlay wood and a magnesium alloy chassis. Moreover, the side panels are inspired by the Fuego Grill.

This is not some new solar powered gadget, this is a product that can revolutionize the way we produce and store energy. The surface of the table is covered in highly efficient photovoltaic cells that collect solar energy all year and then “feeds” the home with precious “clean” electrical energy.

While not directly inspired by a specific Apple gadget, this “Aquarium” washing machine by Djordje Zivanovic is a good example of how pervasive that aesthetic has become. Touting a simple mechanism of rotating spheres that open and close for laundry insertion, the washing machine aspires to a decorative solution in a world of boxy appliances. Now if you will excuse me, I need to go hit play on my darks and colors.

When a new technology comes to market, a ripple effect can cause all sorts of product categories to benefit. To wit, insulin pumps have lagged behind the industry of personal gadget design with poor battery life and clunky design. Jiri Bukvald attempts to assuage these problems with his Bachelor project Insulin Pump by utilizing new OLED technology.

Among the grievous wrongs done by touchscreen technology, the worst is its disregard for tactile feedback. Without the pleasant sensation of a button being pressed, we are woefully incapable of using any gadget without complete visual attention. This Nokia concept tries to right this wrong by using a small pump to fill a substrate beneath the screen that gives our fingers something to feel and press. Maybe now I can finally type out these posts while driving to work without having to put my coffee in the cup holder.

“GoGreen” is the new phrase that seems to echo around the world. With many joining the bandwagon, it shows that many of us are trying to make a conscious effort to adapt to a more sustainable lifestyle. PhotonSynthesis is a device by designer Vivien Muller, which is a solar-cell bonsai lookalike, tree charger. You can charge your cell, your Mp3 player or a number of other electronic gadgets by plugging in to the tree. With its’ 57 photovoltaic panels, the sun can power your tree during the day - no water needed.

Why buy, arrange, and construct an array of 60+ fluorescent light bulbs when you can strap together three of them and let good ‘ole reflections do the rest?  Resting on the floor, the pyramidal shape contains three fluorescent bulbs that, aided by mirrors, project light onto your favorite piece of designer furniture.  As an aside, if you happen to close off the shape with a fourth mirror you apparently create free perpetual energy.
