I imagine the work of Dutch artist and kinetic sculptor Theo Jansen has appeared countless times on blogs and websites, just google the man and you get a fair idea how many people have commented on his work. Since 1990 he has been occupied creating new forms of life, and judging by his recent work I’d say he’s almost there.

Set to be introduced at this years Geneva Motor Show, BMW (parent company to Rolls Royce) is calling this the “200EX Concept”, not to be confused with Chrysler’s beautiful 200C Concept. Measuring in about 18 inches shorter than the obnoxiously large Phantom, this sleek cruiser shares many parts with its cousin the BMW 7 Series. Notice the inclusion of the classic “suicide doors” made popular by not only the Phantom but the mobster loving Lincoln Continental of the 1960s.

The video of Joachim’s ‘Kinetic Sculpture’ was one of the first things I saw at the Design Museum last week, and was something that definitely stuck in my mind.

Created for the BMW museum in Munich, 714 little shiny balls change form beautifully smoothly and the video (Click ‘2’ on the project) is incredibly satisfying.

Beema is a inner city trick bike by Andreas Martin that allows you to take on any obstacle that the urban area throws up; chairs, banks, rails or just the street. It fills the gap between FMX, scooter and BMX. Besides the the stunt riding it gives you the possibility to overcome distance inside a city by having two kinds of driving modes, the stunt-riding mode of course, and then the cruise mode that seats you in a more relaxed position. The project was done in cooperation with BMW Motorcycles see the whole process here.
